Ide Kearney was an Associate Reserch Professor at the ESRI until September 2013. Prior to joining the ESRI she worked as an economist in the Research Division of the Central Bank of Ireland. She received her doctoral degree in 2001 from the European University Institute, Florence, Italy. She now works as a Senior Economist at De Nederlandsche Bank.

Her research interests include the design and development of structural macroeconomic models, with an emphasis on fiscal policy and the labour market. In recent years she has worked on developing macro-financial linkages within structural macroeconomic models.
