Ansgar Rannenberg is a macroeconomist at the Central Bank of Ireland and works mainly on the DSGE related issues of the Macro Modelling Project. He holds a PhD from the University of St. Andrews (United Kingdom). Prior to joining the Central Bank of Ireland, he worked at the Macroeconomic Policy Institute (IMK) of the Hans-Boeckler Foundation in Düsseldorf (Germany), from which he is currently on leave. He has previously worked at the Deutsche Bundesbank and the National Bank of Belgium

His research currently focusses on the effects of fiscal policy during times of economic crisis. Furthermore, he is interested in the role of financial markets in business cycle fluctuations, persistent fluctuations of unemployment and hysteresis mechanisms.
